CorGis v 2.0
CorGis v2.0 uses data from the Reach File V1 and the Permit Compliance System themes
available in BASINS 3.0
Part #1: Instructions to save BASINS data for use in CORMIX:
1.
Locate
the “CORMIX-GI.avx” extension file installed in your CORMIX v7.0
installation directory at:
<cormix installation directory
>…\CORMIX 7.0\Post\CorGis\
2.
Copy
or save the “CORMIX-GI.avx” extension file into your Arc View “ext32” directory.
(Ex.: ../Program Files/ESRI/AV_GIS30/ARCVIEW/EXT32/)
3.
Open
a BASINS project file. The example below uses the “Tutorial” project.

In the BASINS project view
window, from the “File” menu dropdown list select “Extensions ”.

In
the pop-up menu check the box “CORMIX-GI Reach Extension” to load the CORMIX
data import utility. You will notice a “Running Man”
icon will be
added to your BASINS tools menu.

In the BASINS view activate
both the “Reach File, V1”
and “Permit Compliance Systems”
themes of your project, where you desire reach file and discharge data for
CORMIX mixing zone analysis.
7.

Use the “select tool” to select
reaches and PCS point discharges of interest.
8.

Click the “Running Man”
icon created when the CORMIX extension was
loaded into ArcView to create the CORMIX data file.
9.
Save
“reachfile.txt” data to any convenient place, (e.g. your CORMIX directory).
You can rename it to any “filename.txt”
you wish.
In this example it is named “myreachfile.txt” and
stored in the c:\temp directory.
Keep your BASINS
project active (running in memory) while you go onto Part 2, loading BASINS
data into CORMIX.
Part#2:
Instructions to load saved BASINS data into CORMIX:
1.
Launch
CORMIX v7.0. (Keep BASINS running).
2.
In
CORMIX under the Pre-processing menu, click the “CorGIS v2.0” menu option.

Select your saved “myreachfile.txt”
from your BASINS session. A popup window will appear with the BASINS data.
4.
From
the Reach Selection popup window, select the particular reach & discharge of
interest. You may need to use the scroll bars (left & right, up & down)
to locate the reach and discharge of interest.
After the row with the correct reach and discharge is highlighted, press
the “select button”.

5.
The
Reach File and Permit Compliance Systems data will load directly into the
CORMIX data forms. Data loaded by CorGis v2.0 include:
Ambient Data : Avg. Depth, Discharge Flowrate, Water Temp., Manning’s N
Discharge Data : Flow rate
You should verify that the data derived from the BASINS
database reflect reasonable values for the conditions at your discharge site.
